Overview

Need for the course:

• The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skill, and attitude to operate snowmobiles in a safe and efficient manner.
• High rate of accidents and death

• Information on laws and trails

• Make the public more aware of safety and the environmental hazards caused by improper use of   snowmobiles

• Introduce youth to the basics of snowmobiling

• Overall awareness

 

Outcomes and Objectives:
• What do you hope to learn? Think about safe riding, responsibility and gear requirements and recommendations

• Explain the safety procedures for operation taking into account different terrain & speed restrictions

• Explain protective gear requirements appropriate to operating conditions

• Carry out daily and weekly maintenance inspections and adjustments recommended by your snowmobile's owners manual. The owners manual is your best place to find information about your own snowmobile

• Explain the unique handling characteristics of different snowmobiles

• Demonstrate positive control of snowmobiles in a variety of terrains

• Operate the snowmobile in a manner that will not harm the environment
